Getting closer!
Well the counter top and crown mouldings are installed. Take a look at the breakfast bar I am building over the railing. I am working on the legs to finish it off. When you sit at the bar you have a great view of the lake. The tile on the back splash is just about done also! I ran out of grout! Normally you always have lots of grout left over. I thought I was going to run out of tile too. The store gave me two boxes of the wrong coloured tile. Believe it or not I just had enough to do the job with not even one tile to spare. The installation was easy but the grout was a nightmare! Although I applied three coats of sealer on the travertine tile, the tile soaked up the grout something awful. I called Dyann and Howard in despair and Diane remembered having the same problem. She went to the basement and found a bottle of film solution and told me over the phone what to buy. I jumped in my truck and went to Home Hardware. Low and behold they had that exact product. It worked like a charm. Thanks Dyann! Howard, you are a lucky man! The last picture is a before shot.

Kitchen reno - should have done this in the winter!
Well, I am finally tackling the kitchen cupboards. In with the new maple cabinets and out with the old white ones. I ordered my counter top and got my tile. I kinda like the lighting system I built over the window! :) I used the small LED lights. They are expensive but they only use one watt per light; they don't get hot like hallogens and they are suppose to last 100,000 hours!
Can't wait to finish up the kitchen so I can start working outside. Need to find a couple of steel barrels for burning brush! Hard to find these days! Howard mentioned that I could pull a drum out of an old dryer. Good idea! I went to the dump and they just cleared out all of the old appliances. I guess I will keep looking!
